Sayed Abdelhafiz, the club’s director of football, spoke following the team’s impressive 6-1 victory over USGN of Niger in the second leg of the CAF Champions League round of 32.
In his post-match interview, Abdelhafiz reflected on our victory, talked about the importance of qualifying despite having several absences, and weighed in on Walid Soliman’s injury.
“It was very important to win today’s encounter, especially that we had around 12 players who were not available to play for several reasons. However, we were able to come out victorious and qualify to the next round.”
“You have to be fully focused when it comes to the preliminary rounds of the CAF Champions League due to the fact the teams might surprise you and come up with unexpected results.”
“For example, we saw how TP Mazembe of DR Congo were knocked out from the competition from AmaZulu of South Africa.”
“We will now shift our focus towards the Egyptian League, as we will not be playing in the CAF Champions League until next February.”
“I’ll visit Soliman in the hospital today. Dr. Ahmed Abu Abla, head of Al Ahly’s medical staff, told me that his condition is not that serious.”
Soliman, Al Ahly’s attacking midfielder, left Al Ahly We Al Salam Stadium to go to the hospital after being injured during our game against Niger’s USGN.
